We have been hearing about Hurricane Helene this week, and this hurricane has struck many homes in the Southeast side of the country. I pray that God will provide safety and protection to all those that have been affected.
When I look at the size and the magnitude of this natural disaster, I can’t help but think about Matthew 24 once again. It is another sign that Jesus is coming very soon. “And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:7. As the time of Jesus’ second coming nears, the earth will shiver more to warn us that the time is near. A warning is a good thing for us in the sense that it will help us to be ready and be prepared. For Jesus says in the same chapter in verse 44, “There for you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
With all the signs around us, it’s about time. Jesus will come anytime soon, and He will come at an unexpected moment. So I pray that we will always be ready and prepared for that glorious moment of the return of Jesus.
Also, when I look at the hurricane, it also reminds me of the promise of God in the Old Testament: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned. Nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2. Even though our region is not affected by the hurricane, I know we have someone that we know of in the area that is affected by the hurricane. Please remember to pray for them and claim this promise of the Bible verse.
